Jokowi to Visit White House

Obama views the strengthening of the two nations relationship is imperative and necessary.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta With Indonesia's relationship with many nations evidently in inharmonious terms, the nation ought to rebuild its relationship with other friendly countries thus that the number of enemy does not escalate. Indonesia has just recently decided to put a number of individuals from disparate nationalities into the death sentences that are condemned by many across the globe. In a lighter note, Indonesia is trying to prove the world that it has progressed more rapidly starting with making a firm decision that clearly shows its strong identity to the world.

It has been learned that, the Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo will be headed towards the United States this upcoming June to meet with the American President Barack Obama. Their rendezvous will be based on the premise that shows both nations are willing to strengthen the relationship between each other. Thus, the White House will be President Jokowi’s next destination in a couple of months.

According to the reports of News.com.au today (06/03/2015), the Chief of the Indonesian Presidential staff, Luhut Panjaitan claims that the meeting between two Presidents is to better enhance the relationship of the two nations. This meeting will surely help Indonesia gain more friends and understanding despite the growing disappointment by other nations relating to the recent decision made by President Jokowi about yielding a heavy capital punishment on a number of people who are now imprisoned in the correctional institution at Nusakambangan.

"Jokowi will be visiting the White House on the first week of June," Luhut said.

Luhut is currently in Washington DC to prepare for the metting between the two leaders. Luhut met with the US National Security advisor, Susan Rice to discuss the security measures that ought to be taken into account for the safe arrival of the Indonesian President later in June.

Jokowi is not the only leader that will be visiting the United States. Leaders of Japan, South Korea and China have all planned to come and visit uncle Sam’s land to meet with President Barack Obama.

This is not the first time President Jokowi met with the The U.S President. Jokowi had met with him before during the East Asia Summit at Nay Pyi Tiaw, Myanmar on November 2014.

According to the former American ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, it is Obama who has requested for Jokowi to come to the U.S as he believes that the strengthening of the relationship between the two is imperative.

"President Obama wants to continually enhance the U.S relationship with Indonesia and hopes that President Jokowi is able visit the United States," Scot Marciel said on December 2 2014. (Akp/Riz)
