RI Narcotics Agency Chief Targets Prisons for Next Drugs Bust

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Indonesian National Narcotics Agency Chief (BNN) Budi Waseso posits that eradication of elicit drugs would be impossible if everyone fail to participate in the venture of helping his institution to once and for all address drugs-related problems.

He specifically points finger on prisoners’ guards which allegedly helping prisoners to cover their transaction process inside the correctional institution. According to Budi, guards have been trying to outsmart his institution by covering up all the exchanges done inside the prison and presenting a relatively convincing argument to secure his position as guards.

Prisoners guards who help the undertakings of drugs related ventures inside the prison in the eyes of Budi Waseso, have halted his institution from working to its maximum potential.

As for that matter, Budi Waseso intends to target correctional institutions or prisons starting today, to find evidence that would justify his earlier claims and therefore his job to exterminate the root causes of drugs distribution can be sorted out in a gradual manner. He wants to make sure that there are individuals involved in allowing for drugs transaction to occur inside prison.

“We have for so many times tried to trace back the drugs network and all happens to lead us back to prison. But often these prisons badger us with their laws which prevent us from furthering our investigation and our mission inside the prison. Apparently there are people in the prison, most likely the law enforcers stationed there, who have been willing to cover the illegal undertakings done within prison. I can make sure that this time we will bust into the prison despite the laws that forbid us to,” he said, Tuesday (26/1/2016).

He further shares that his institution is now coordinating with the Ministry of Justice to conduct such major bust. He thinks that there should be no further toleration given to drug dealers or those who cover undertakings related to it.
