RI Narcotics Agency Presents New Ways to Outsmart Drug Dealers

Chief of Indonesian Narcotics Agency Budi Waseso yields new ways to prevent drugs from spreading further.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Chief of Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Budi Waseso believes that archipelago state is under state of emergency following intensely growing rampant widespread of distribution of elicit drugs in various parts of the country.

Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo previously stated that data collected blatantly showed how the country is homing around 4,5 million drugs-users.

Out of that grandiose amount of users, 1,2 million of them can no longer be rehabilitated due to level of severity of drugs-using.

In responding to that, Budi Waseso has a number of strategies that he sought to implement to threaten those who distribute, circulate, sell and use drugs.

No Mercy

Head of Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Budi Waseso said that the plan to have Indonesia as a drugs-free zone in 2015 is quite difficult in attainment as the efforts for its eradication mission is done half-heartedly.

In responding to such lack of effectiveness, Budi Waseso requests for authorities ranging from Indonesian Armed Forces to Police Force to execute drugs dealers with no hesitation.

He even said that he is willing to be held accountable should one of his men is blamed for executing the perpetrators behind drug-dealing without any prior notice being made beforehand.

“There should be no hesitation in executing drug dealers. I will personally take all the responsibilities should there is anyone who goes against such notion,” he said at the Persada Halim Executive Club, East Jakarta on Friday 18 December 2015.

As for preventive measures that the National Narcotics Agency has been exerting for the past couple of months, focus was very much placed upon the venues where the distribution of drugs is relatively rampant.

“According to the data that we have independently collected, we were able to learn the fact that transactions for drugs often take place inside night time recreational places and therefore we see those places are important for us to place more concentration upon. A warning sign is the least thing they could put up in preventing the undertakings inside the venue,” he further explained.

He believes that such decision of executing drug dealers is highly necessitated should the government want to eradicate the circulation once and for all.

He also suggest for clubs or recreational places at night owners to take this matter seriously and remain cooperative with the authority.

“I believe that God is merciful. If God asks me later on as to why I kill a human being, his creation, I will answer the fact that I have killed a person who has been killing over hundreds of people. God will then answer that it is okay, I am forgiven,” he concluded.

Drugless Party

Chief of Indonesian National Narcotics Agency Budi Waseso said that there are many ways to prevent the successful circulation, distribution and abuse of elicit drugs. According to him, recreational places that open during night time are playing a particularly big role in drugs- related ventures.

The venue does not only provide facilitation for its widespread distribution and circulation, it also encourages the misuse of drugs.

“Our agency has been meaning to summon owners of night time recreational venues to talk to them about building a commitment with us,” Said Budi Waseso at the National Narcotics Agency office, East Jakarta, on Tuesday 15 December 2015.

Budi believes that preventive measure can start from the places where the ‘stuff’ is supposedly distributed. Owners of these recreational spots are encouraged to cooperate with the narcotics agency in preventing its distribution inside the venue, the circulation that follows as well as its consumption inside the venue.

Budi shares the fact that those are highly necessitated in reducing the amount of users in a gradual manner.

“As Chief of National Narcotics Agency, I have a commitment that everyone ought to pay attention to. It is okay to party, it is okay to have fun, but without having to consume drugs in so doing. You can party, just don't take drugs. This is the role of night time venues to take, in preventing the unwanted. We as the agency will only observe and conduct operation,” he further explained.

To actualize such commitment, he has coordinated with a number of stakeholders which include Jakarta regional government, central government, Indonesian Armed Forces and Police Forces.

Ready Steady Destroy

The recently appointed Head of Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Budi Waseso is now preoccupied with addressing drugs-related issues. He realized that both national and international scale drug dealers and smugglers have now cunningly exploited methods to outsmart authorities in smuggling through drugs.

Many of these criminals resort to sea route in trying to deliver these illegal packages and thus, in order to prevent the escalation of that Budi Waseso necessitated containment strategy designed to apply monitoring stations in areas susceptible to sea route drugs-delivery.

Budi Waseso has reportedly coordinated his agency with the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) to establish cooperation in guarding and monitoring Indonesian water and areas around the archipelago nations, that are prone to become the layover sites for these drug dealing ventures.

Budi Waseso claims to be profoundly discontented to know that the widespread of drugs continue to escalate overtime with the criminals behind the distribution fail to see the dire consequences to the Indonesian population should the spread continue.

In his point of view, drug dealers seem to be unafraid of the consequences or the capital punishment that they will face if they get caught.

Therefore, Budi Waseso thinks it is necessary for the ships or vessels carrying drugs from outside of Indonesia to be demolished so it will never make its way into the Indonesian region.

"I think it is necessary for us to demolish vessels carrying drugs along with the criminals who carried it. So in the future I think it would be best if we combat not just illegal fishers but also drug dealers, smugglers and couriers inside the vessels who carry drugs into the Indonesian region. No mercy to drugs and all of the druggies," Budi Waseso stated on Wednesday 9 September 2015.

According to him, his agency, along with involving department and forces have to work collectively in a largely productive manner whilst extended belligerence to address drugs-related problems.

Crocodile Prison Guard

Budi Waseso has also planned to set a grandiose punishment against drugs convicts by sending them to a jail located in an island surrounded by dozens of crocodiles.

“Yes it is true I have planned such thing where drugs prisoners are being detained in a specific area surrounded by crocodiles,” he stated on November 7 2015.

According to him, crocodile would not suffice and he also plans to put in piranha in the water to surround the area where drugs convicts are being detained.

This is to prevent them from escaping or at least reconsider such act before actually conducting it as the consequences too dire to go through.
