Bali to Reopen Airport after Yet another Closure due to Eruption

Barujari mountain recently signaled another eruptive activity with ashes reaching Nusa Dua of Bali resort island.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta After reopening its Ngurah Rai International airport following the eruption of mount Barujari as part of the number two largest active volcano Rinjani, Bali finally sets another closure to its aviation operation facilities. Such decision was immediately put into action shortly after reports of resurfacing volcano ashes becoming more potent than ever.

Ashes generated from the erupting mountain will certainly hinder the traffic up in the air with likeliness of zero visibility limiting assurance of every flight’s safety circulating around the area.

“Yes that is correct. Airport closure is due to volcano ashes from mount Barujari which reportedly have reached Nusa Dua of Bali resort island,” PT. Angkasa Pura General Manager, Trikora Harjo spoke to Liputan6.com on Sunday night 8 November 2015.

Trikora explains that such closure started on Sunday night and may reopen today but such decision surely depends on the continually invigilated developing reports of mount Barujari eruption.

“Bali Ngurah Rai international airport has been closed since Sunday night at approximately 21.45 pm local time and may reopen on November 9 2015 at 08.45 am,” he stated.

According to Trikora, such closure was provoked by the alarming evidence of mount Barujari’s volcano ashes expanding to Bali area.

“From the data that we collected, the direction of the wind has led for the volcano ashes to come into our direction with evidence showing that it has reached Nusa Dua. So, it was necessitated for us to conduct yet another closure of Bali airport,” he concluded. (Akp)
