Jokowi Held Luncheon with Rectors Discussing Weak Economy

President Jokowi met with universities rectors to discuss national economy and improvement on education system.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo had a luncheon session with a number of rectors from universities in Indonesia at the Presidential palace earlier this afternoon (10/9/2015).

It has been recorded that as many as 23 rectors were present during the luncheon held at the Presidential palace and they were having in-depth discussion with Indonesian President Joko 'Jokowi’ Widodo regarding the currently worrying national economy which has been severely badgered by the volatility of overall worldwide economy.

"First of all, I would like say thank you to all of you who are here to have lunch with me whilst discuss national economic slow down. I think it is imperative for us to discuss economic issues because fortunately we have settled national political upheaval, it’s getting better overtime. Stability and security issues are addressed effectively," President Jokowi said.

Presidential Communication Team, Ari Dwipayana said that apart from economic issues, the luncheon meeting gives rectors the opportunity to vent out their complaints about all the drawbacks, challenges or anything that bothers the national education system.

"Rectors went to share about all the problems faced in universities they teach at, research and other kinds of issue," Ari explained.

President Jokowi thinks that such meeting is highly necessitated, and that this calls for the continuation of similar kind of meeting in the future. (Akp/Tnt)
