RI Corruption Commission Suggested to 'Renew' Laws Every 5 Year

Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Act number 30 year of 2002 currently under revision until further notice.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) is currently preoccupied with the deliberation upon revision for laws of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Act number 30 year of 2002.

So far the discussion has only reached the legislative level of the DPR and will continue to become one of its prioritized agenda to be addressed.

The Vice Deputy of DPR, Taufik Kurniawan informed that he cannot yet give a clear and exact date as to when such revision will reach its finalization and discussed in the grand meeting.

"We are still revising it, we cant really predict any developing revision for UU KPK but what we have now has been approved by the government which was represented by the Ministry of Legal and Human Rights Affairs," Taufiq said, Wednesday (17/6/2015).

Taufiq continues explaining as he suggests for the continous revision of KPK laws every 5 year because for him, revision is deemed imperative in strengthening the foundation of the institution and will act as preventive instrument to avoid any unwanted conflict such as the ones in the past.

"The old laws have to be revised every now and then in accordance to the given condition. Situations keep on changing as the day and year progresses, so we might as well revised and renewed it so that it is adjusted to the current need," he concluded. (Akp/Ein)
