7 Criminals Captured in North Sumatra now On the Death Row

These inmates are currently trying to save their lives from death penalty by requesting for a review of their cases (PK).

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - With President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo declaring war against drugs, law enforcers throughout the country began to operate mission to find the king pin behind such widespread distribution which has evidently reached other neighbouring and afar countries.

Additionally, involving authorities are determined to also capture the couriers and the users as to abolish such issue once and for all.

This is of course, plagued with many challenges as drugs have found safe haven in this country and its eradication has to be done in a gradual manner.

The danger of drugs and the importance of its abolishment itself was immediately forgotten and overlooked as soon as the focus shifted to the drug convicts behind the cell bar.

This is most apparent when a large-mass presented what seems to be a roaring popular outcry condemning President Jokowi's arguably 'harsh' capital punishment against the drug convicts.

Many of the convicts exerted all of their efforts to request for clemency and a review of their cases in order to save their lives from death penalty.

The North Sumatra Judicial Court has previously announced the likeliness of 7 convicts to be executed soon.

These inmates were captured for various acute cases ranging from drugs-charges to murder.

The Judiciary however, has not yet announce the confirmed date for the execution as the 7 individuals on the death row are currently trying to have their cases review (PK) and exerting efforts to remain alive by taking into account any legal process necessitated for President Jokowi’s consideration.

"For death penalty, we have a number of people on the death row. They are currently requesting for a review of their case (PK) and thus we are unable to set a specific date for the execution. Not yet," said The Head of Public Relations from North Sumatera Judicial Court, Chandra Purnama informed in Medan on Sunday 10 May 2015.

Those in the North Sumatera death row list include, Nigerian National, Okonkow Nonsokiingleys which was captured for importing 1,1 kg of heroin, Indonesian National Nasib Purba and Ronald Sagala, captured for a murder case back in 2006, the other inmates, Marcos, Fatizan and Yafonaso were imprisoned for cases alike.
