Asia-Pacific Nations Desires United Effort to Finance Development

In trying to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, Asia-Pacific countries conduct meetings to discuss methods for attainment.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Minister of Finance envisions the year of 2015 as the perfect momentum to mark the commencement of international citizens globally-influential action in adopting the post 2015 transformation development deemed imperative for the furtherance of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). 

Such adoption is very much necessitated as to assure global citizens' seriousness in meeting collective expectations that would ultimately enhance the development of nations across the globe. 

The topic relating to climate change is also viewed as an important and thus, universally- accepted agreement among nations will act as an instrument to bring about some drastic change for this particular matter.

"Contextually speaking, the long-term payment strategy will play a crucial role in determining the future of the mission and agreement. It will very much determined the ability for it to progress or now," Minister Bambang shared at the Ministry of Finance Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (29/4/2015).

He further explained how the meeting allows for the members of Economic and Social Commissions for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and other involving parties to perform evaluation on specific aspects which include the role of traditional source of finance, exploration of innovative instrument and various tools deemed necessary for the financing of investment in economic, social and environment sectors.

The implementation of Asia- Pacific High Level Consultation on Financing for Development is the carefully-planned endeavour to make 'Jakarta Consensus'. 

The document contains the results of regional consultation specifically discussing feasible recommendations of mobilization and effective use of financial resources within the Asia-Pacific region.

The document will subsequently be used as valuable asset accommodating each Asia-Pacific nation visions and aspirations on their readiness to make a collectively agreed decision for the 'Third International Conference on Financing for Development' which will be held this July in Addis Ababa.

"Additionally, the document will also serve as a standard to our visions for this September's summit designed to facilitate discussions surrounding the agenda of post 2015 development," Bambang further explained.

The Indonesian Ministry of Finance acts as a host for the Asia-Pacific High Level Consultation on Financing for Development event which has started today and continues until tomorrow (29-30 April 2015).
