Jusuf Kalla Spurns Suggestions Favouring Cabinet Reshuffling

Vice President Jusuf Kalla disregards input made by non-governmental forum demanding the reshuffling of some incompetent ministers.

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian forum for a transparent national budget (Fitra) perceives some of the Ministers in the working cabinet under the government of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as lacking in competence and aptitude deemed necessary for the enactment of the initially envisaged 9 priority programs (Nawacita).

Following such speculation is the Forum's suggestion proposed to the President himself which specifically points out the dire need to reshuffle the current cabinet.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla responded to such proposition with a more lenient tone favouring the notion of legitimate evaluation process on Ministers in the cabinet to be done periodically rather than actually taking Fitra's suggestion into account.

"All ministers are constantly evaluated. I strongly doubt the reliability of Fitra as a source that is backed with sufficient evidence. For me is nonsense for Fitra to make hasty assumptions and force the government to follow its suggestion," Vice President Jusuf Kalla responded, Jakarta, Monday (27/4/2015).

Jusuf Kalla remarked how the possibility of reshuffling the cabinet will only happen based on circumstances that the Indonesian government itself see as unfit.

The Indonesian government, according to Jusuf Kalla, is the only rightful party to justify ministers capabilities and whether or not they have what it takes to lead the furtherance of President's nawacita programs.

Suggestions yielded by non-governmental organizations or instances will not be taken into account, Jusuf Kalla continued sharing.

‎"We wont follow the suggestions made by those non- governmental instances," he added.

According to the ambitiously established forum, Fitra, there are 3 ministers worth replacing following the forum’s realization of these three ministers incompetence.

These three ministers are, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Sudirman Said, Minister of State Owned Enterprise (BUMN), Rini Soemarno and Minister of Finance (Menkeu), Bambang PS Brodjonegoro.

The Indonesian Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reformation (MenPAN-RB), Yuddy Chrisnandi informed how reshuffling of ministers from their posts is the prerogative right of President Jokowi.

Therefore, future reshuffing possibility ought to be considered as the President’s sole decision based on his personal evaluation towards the ministers.

Ministers according to him, should prepare for the worst especially if he/she knows that the productivity level of their job positioned at unpromising level. (Akp/Ein)
